A plaque to commemorate LEO, - the World's First Business Computer, was unveiled by Dame Stephanie Shirley on 29th November 2016, the 65th anniversary of its first routine run.
The engraved stone plaque, situated in Lyon's Walk near the site of Cadby Hall, Hammersmith, was the idea of Leo Computer Society committee member Mike Tyzack. Mike and other committee members came up with a design and Tony Morgan offered to fund the whole project.
Tony Morgan was Commissioning Manager at LEO Computers Ltd. and is now Technical Consultant to the LEO Computers Society.
After speeches by Dame Stephanie, Peter Byford, Frank Land and Ben Coleman (Hammersmith and Fulham Council), the guests retired to the nearby Queen's Head for lunch.
The Society is grateful to Edward Stubbing, Senior Transport Planner at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham for his assistance in preparing the site and laying the stone.
